  • Cabbage
  • Onion
  • Minced garlic
  • Bacon
  • Reserved bacon grease
  • Onion powder
  • Garlic powder

How to make Fried cabbage with onions and bacon:

First, in a nonstick frying pan over medium heat, cook the bacon and set aside to cool down. 

In the same skillet, cook the diced onion until it’s softened. 

Stir in the garlic and cook for another 30 seconds. 

Stir in the cabbage to the pot and cover to cook for about 20 minutes.
The cabbage will simmer and will release all of its flavors. 

Stir in the garlic powder, onion powder and season with salt and pepper to taste. 

Stir in the crumbled bacon and serve to enjoy.

  • 1 Head of cabbage chopped
  • 1 Onion chopped
  • 2 tsp. Minced garlic
  • 5 Strips of bacon cooked and crumbled
  • Reserved bacon grease
  • ½ tsp. Onion powder
  • ½ tsp. Garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Can you make it ahead?

Yes, you can make this dish up to 1 day in advance. Make sure to warm it before serving.

Variations and substitutes:

You can also use prosciutto in this recipe instead of bacon, but if you like the traditional taste, use bacon because that will bring a lot more natural flavor.
